NHDP Grasstoots Newsletter

Dear Friend,

We are just two weeks out from a critical State Senate Special Election here in New Hampshire! Kevin Cavanaugh is running for State Senate in District 16, which includes Dunbarton, Bow, Hooksett, Candia and Manchester Wards 1, 2 and 12. Election Day is Tuesday July 25th – and this election is going to be all about TURNOUT!

We need your help to make sure Kevin Cavanaugh wins! This is a critical Democratic State Senate seat. We will be knocking on doors and making phone calls every day between now and July 25th. We have a lot of voters to talk to – and we can’t do it alone.

Kevin was born and raised in Manchester and has spent the past 32 years as a blue-collar worker. He has coached High School Football at Memorial and West as well as multiple youth hockey, soccer, baseball, and softball teams. Kevin was first elected to the Board of Alderman in 2015. He lives in Manchester Ward 1 with his wife and three children who are all in the New Hampshire public school system.

Democratic Press Releases

NHDP Statement: Trump official in NH to promote conservationism as Sununu & Trump deny basic science

… “Governor Sununu never misses a chance to be seen with a Trump official. Despite what Sununu and Trump would like this empty gesture to symbolize, New Hampshire is worse off because of their environmental policies. Sununu tossed away any chance at legitimacy on climate and conservation when he stood by President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement and refused to join the US Climate Alliance. Governor Sununu should heed the calls of the New Hampshire Congressional delegation to reconsider his climate positions and commitment to basic science rather than grandstanding and saying ‘not my job’ when it matters most. … – Chairman Raymond Buckley (D-Manchester)

NHDP Statement: Sununu misleading NH on Minuteman exchange participation, deepening uncertainty

… “Governor Sununu is seeding department uncertainty in New Hampshire’s state exchange while President Trump intentionally undermines our health care system. We expect our leaders to operate in good faith, but it’s hard to give them the benefit of the doubt when Trump and Sununu continue to work together to undercut health care for millions of Americans . . . It’s a governor’s responsibility to reassure Granite Staters, work to solve problems, and share accurate information. Sununu has done exactly the opposite, stoking fear about the future of Minuteman insurance and claiming ACA has failed based on misleading information. Governor Sununu could’ve easily picked up the phone to learn that Minuteman is planning to offer on and off-market insurance in 2018. Instead, he went the lazy route, going with the story that fit his narrative. The governor needs to stop being opportunistic, siding with President Trump, and supporting a health care plan with 27% approval in New Hampshire.” … – Chairman Raymond Buckley (D-Manchester)
